All these while, DAP tries to picture its party image as clean, integrity, efficient, intelligent and caring not just towards rakyat, but also to the environment. DAP is also the 'champion' in going against Lynas plant in Kuantan, due to their claim saying that the plant pollutes the environment and harms animals as well as human being. Through an organization known as Himpunan Hijau, DAP organized demonstrations including hunger strike as well as walking campaign from Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur, to raise rakyat's awareness so that they would go against Lynas.
Not just that, DAP also uses all Chinese language media as well as opposition-owned media to urge rakyat to go against Lynas. That is how great DAP is in fighting for the environment - as if.
However, recently, the fight from Lynas seem to have been gone. In a few of the opposition's ceramah, their leaders seem to be giving the 'green light' for Lynas to operate if PR wins.
Not just that, what is more shocking, the 'green hero' in Lynas issue, Wong Tack, who now contests on DAP's ticket in Bentong, has now been revealed as the rapist of mother nature'.
Wong Tack is a palm oil entrepreneur. His company, Marvellous Resources Sdn Bhd has been cultivating palm trees on a 1,000 acre of land owned by his family.
If we are to follow the environmental standards set by Wong Tack, DAP and PR, the palm oil plantation itself is wrong. This is because, such big palm oil plantation is usually a target for international environmental organization which deem it as threat towards orang Utan's habitat and population, which is now threatened with extinction.
Environmental Organizations blame this matter over palm oil plantation which destroys the jungle, Orang Utan's natural habitat. It is reported that 90% of the animal's habitat is in Southeast Asia, especially in Malaysia and Indonesia, has been destroyed since the past 20 years. Advanced equipments as well a burning activities to clear out the jungle as well as preparing the cultivation of palm trees is also deem as environmental pollution.
These organizations also claim palm oil cultivation as an act of cruelty as it forces aboriginal tribes to evacuate their homes, or work at the estate with low salary. Besides that, they also claim that palm oil plantation in this region often uses fertilizers from harmful chemicals.
Wong Tack's company is also said to have received warning from the Environmental Protection Agency as the company fail to follow the conditions in terms of planning of replanting and cutting off palm trees.
In his defence, Wong Tack denied that he uses any harmful chemicals at his estate. However, his verbal denial is obviously unconvincing. Especially when Wong Tack stated that he never hide his ownership of the palm oil estate, even though most palm oil estate owners barely knew about it.
According to them, the report of the ownership of such big palm oil estate by Wong Tack is a shocking news for them. If it is true that he does not have anything to hide, then how come no one knew about it?
It seems like after PR has been revealed to be hypocrite in environmental issue where they decided to take a U-turn in Lynas issue, now, their 'green hero' has also been proven to be a hypocrite as he himself, destroys the environment.
Perhaps Wong Tack need to go back to Canada where he did receive Permanent Residents' title there and just leave his political and acting career as environmental hero career here, because it has been proven that he does not have the credibility to even talk about it.
